The Big News: OpenSMS
GTC is a proud sponsor of the Open Systems
Managed Storage (OpenSMS)
project. This open source framework
for storage management is poised to revolutionize tiered
storage management in open systems environments. OpenSMS
is comprised of OpenTMS and OpenHSM. OpenHSM, developed by
GTC, is a peer to peer, policy driven storage management
framework for file-based data. Data in filesystem tiers
can be replicated in quasi real time to other filesystem tiers
or to tape. Each filesystem tier may run its own policy
subsystem with replication to other tiers.
Data written to tape is handled by OpenTMS, a
full-function tape management system contributed to the open
source community by StorageTek, and maintained by GTC. Formerly
known as ReelLibrarian, OpenTMS has been hardened over
more than a decade of production deployment in Global 2000 companies. OpenTMS provides the full
abstraction layer necessary to use tape either as a backup
medium or as an active repository in a tiered storage system.

site on Sourceforge for more information.
Groves Technology Corporation specializes in
planning and execution of multi-platform connectivity strategies
for high end data storage and networking devices, subsystems and
appliances. With many years of experience supporting advanced storage
subsystems and protocols on all major operating system platforms,
we are uniquely qualified to develop and support device drivers and kernel software
modules to enable the advanced features of complex storage and networking
subsystems (examples).
We can substantially reduce the host-integration risks of
introducing new storage subsystem functionality.
Our team
has provided integration/driver software to most of the major storage
vendors (customers). John Groves previously founded Open Microsystems, where
he built a reputation as the leading supplier of high
performance device drivers and software integration to the
storage and storage area networking industries. Trusted by major storage hardware vendors
since the early '90s, the Groves team has solved interfacing
problems and supplied critical
device drivers and other host software components for all of the major operating systems
and storage device classes in use today.
